Matt is the President and Founder of Able Sail NL non-profit, a NL (Newfoundland and Labrador) organization with the goal “to introduce the sport of sailing to people with all levels of ability, in particular helping those with physical and or mental barriers that may otherwise make the sport less approachable.” He is also Manager of the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club Sailing School.
What Matt and the Learn to Sail program are doing is an excellent way to help people who may feel limited by disabilities enjoy sport and recreation outside and on the water!
While sailing may not be the first sport that comes to mind when thinking about concussions and other brain injury, anyone who has been near a sail can appreciate the power of the boom as it swings across.
