Episode 109 – Concussion is Brain Injury; in Kids, in Athletes & in Combat Sports – with Dr. David Cancel

The first thing Dr. David Cancel tries to impart on kids, parents, athletes, whoever comes to him with a concussion, is how important it is to take the injury as seriously as possible. Dr. David Cancel, MD, JD is the Director of Paediatric Rehabilitation at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Cancel is Board Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine.

Dr. Cancel also serves as a ringside physician for various combat sports in New York State and is a Physician Member of USA Boxing. He has a 2nd degree black belt in Jujitsu and 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo, with training in boxing and wrestling.
