Skiing with Sally!

On Monday, November 16, I will have a new podcast out. This one will be about the upcoming ski season, and my podcast guest will be Sally Francklyn. Sally is from Colorado Springs and used to work at Ski Magazine, which included travel to New Zealand, Chile, and British Columbia. She will talk about where to ski, what to remember before you head out, what to watch for, as well as her favourite places to ski.

Our chat will begin, however, with Sally talking about her remarkable story. She moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in January 2012 to work at Denny, ink, a public relations firm for some ski-industry clients, like Nordica and Arc’teryx.  Two months later, Saturday, March 24, she was backcountry skiing with friends, caught an edge as she dropped into a couloir, couldn’t stop, tumbled 800 feet before a rock stopped her fall and shattered her helmet. She has a traumatic brain injury and an incredible story.

Check out the video The Sally Francklyn Story done by High Fives Foundation.

High Fives Foundation is a non-profit organization, based in Truckee, California. It “supports the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness while providing resources and inspiration to those who suffer life altering injuries.” Check out the videos, their partners, their programs and events!

Before you head out this coming winter, please listen to Sally’s story, listen to the advice from an exceptional and experienced skier, and have fun out there!
